Watermelon is a fruit that is rich in vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients. It has a high water content and is low in calories.
There are two amino acids found in watermelon ; citrulline and arginine. Citrulline is a nonessential amino acid which means it can be synthesized by the human body and does not need to be consumed in the diet. Arginine is an essential amino acid because it cannot be synthesized by the human body and must be consumed through food or supplements.
The fruits are also rich source of β-carotene, vitamins (B, C and E), minerals (K, Mg, Ca
and Fe), amino acid (citrulline) and phenolics. They are also very rich in antioxidants
This fruit is rich in vitamins A, C, iron, phosphorus and calcium and minerals. Quercetin is considered as most active antioxidant in the guava leaves and is responsible for its spasmolytic activity. Ethanolic extract of guava can increase the sperm quality as well as quantity and can be used for the treatment of infertile males.
This is a common and widely used spice. The health benefits of ginger are mainly attributed to its phenolic compounds, such as gingerols and shogaols. Ginger is known to contain high levels of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anticancer, neuroprotective, cardiovascular protective, respiratory protective, anti-obesity, antidiabetic and anti-nausea.
1) Chop the following into pieces that can easily be ground in a blender:
- a piece of watermelon (include the white part of the skin which is rich in citrulline)
- two guavas
- some ample quantity of ginger
2) Add a tablespoon of pumpkin seeds
3) Add some water to the mixture, blend and sieve.
4) Sweeten with some honey to taste as preferred
5) Drink this juice two times a day
